The TRS-80 is a series of computers produced by Tandy (aka Radio Shack) from 1977 to 1991. It is part of the "1977 trinity" - the first commercially successful personal computers, along with the Apple II and the Commodore PET. Its low cost and wide availability made it very popular, and at a point it had the largest software library of any personal computer.
As a home computer, it was succeeded in 1980 by the TRS-80 Color Computer — which, despite the similar name, was completely different and incompatible with it. But even so, thanks to its CP/M support, the TRS-80 remained popular for some professional uses.
