	Battlefield 2	FPS / Tactical Shooter	Windows	Modern military shooter where you can fight as U.S., China, or fictional Middle Eastern forces. Single-player is basically bots on multiplayer maps, so no real story, but lots of strategic team-based action. Gives that “fight the Communist Army–style” vibe with China.
	Bionic Commando	Platformer	NES	Fantastic platformer in which you are unable to jump and must instead rely on your TOTALLY AWESOME BIONIC ARM to navigate levels. It's like an entire game of using a really primitive Worms grappling hook. Basic level up system, multiple weapons, kill NSDAP members in the Wehrmacht, etc. Has an infamous cutscene where Adolf Hitler's Master D's head fucking explodes. Bionic Commando Rearmed is a fucking epic remake for most modern consoles and PC, and totally channels the original in fantastic new HD graphics, great 3D models, and balls to the walls attitude. However, playing the original is always suggested before taking on the remake, just to see the evolution.
	Brothers In Arms: Hell's Highway	Strategic FPS	Windows PlayStation 3 Xbox 360	Squad-based "Nahtzee" shootan. If you like actual storylines, instead of just killin' "Nahtzees", this is the game for you (playing the first 2 BiA would make more senses if you care). Avoid the multiplayer like the plague.
	Call of Duty 2	FPS	Windows macOS Xbox 360	Would be the best game in the Call of Duty series if not for WaW's "Nahtzee" Zombies. This has better multiplayer, though, and a fuckawesome campaign. Lets you storm Stalingrad as the Soviet Red Army, before switching to classic Allies perspective (British and American forces) across North Africa and Western Europe.
	Call of Duty: World at War	FPS	Windows Xbox 360 PlayStation 3 Wii Nintendo DS	A darker and more mature entry in the series, notable for its gore elements and gritty tone. The campaign spans both the Pacific Theater with the U.S. Marines and the Eastern Front with the Soviets pushing into Berlin. It also introduced the popular "Nahtzee" Zombies survival mode, which has since become a recurring feature in the franchise. "Nahtzee" Zombies is downloadable on the iPhone.
	Call of Duty: Black Ops	FPS	Windows Xbox 360 PlayStation 3 Wii	Not just Vietnam and CIA intrigue; several missions pit you against the Soviets directly, including firefights in Cuba and even inside the USSR. A Cold War spy-thriller twist on the classic CoD formula.
	Castle Wolfenstein	Stealth	Apple II Commodore 64 MS-DOS Atari 8-bit	What, you thought Wolfenstein began in 3D? Wrong! This was one of the earliest stealth games. Plot is the same: captured American spy must find NSDAP war plans and escape. Play online: Apple II / C64 / DOS / the sequel
	Command & Conquer: Red Alert	RTS	Windows PlayStation	An alternate history prequel to the original Command & Conquer, where Albert Einstein travels back in time to eliminate Hitler, accidentally creating a timeline where the Soviet Union becomes a world-dominating superpower. The player commands either the Allied Forces or the Soviets in a massive war across Europe. Features iconic units like the Tesla Coil and Mammoth Tank.
	Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2	RTS	Windows	The Soviets, led by their new puppet leader, launch a full-scale invasion of the United States. A beloved sequel known for its over-the-top, B-movie style, with psychic commandos, giant squids, and blimps. The campaign is a straightforward fight between the Allies and the Soviet Union for control of America.
	Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3	RTS	Windows macOS Xbox 360 PlayStation 3	Desperate to win, the Soviets once again use a time machine to alter history, this time creating a new timeline with a third faction: the Empire of the Rising Sun. The game adds a co-op campaign and a more stylized, cinematic look, with a star-studded cast of live-action actors. You can fight as any of the three factions, including the Soviets themselves.
	Commandos: Behind Enemy Lines	RTS	Windows	"Was ist das? Ein verletzte!" Seven sneaky soldiers severely sodomize some sucka... "nahtzees". This awesome topdown view game has it all: timeless hand drawn graphics, challenging tactical/stealth gameplay. Curious fact is that the game sold best in Germany. You'll enjoy touring the World War 2 fronts sabotaging ze german infrastructure and silently eliminating tons of krauts before escaping with a bang. After that, you'll want to play the expansion pack which is even more difficult. And then, on to part 2! The sequel is not as hard but it's pretty much a fuckin' better game. You'll replay it if only for that warm feeling inside from setting up awesome ambushes. The third game is meh.
	The Cat and the Coup	Puzzle/Adventure	Windows macOS	Indie narrative game where you play as the cat of Mohammad Mossadegh, Iran’s prime minister, during the 1953 CIA and MI6-backed coup. A short, artistic experience critiquing American intervention through puzzles and surreal visuals. Not combat-focused but offers a rare non-American neocon/liberal interventionist perspective.
	Crysis	FPS	Windows PlayStation 3 Xbox 360	A near-future action shooter with serious 80s action movie energy. Battle the North Korean army on a mysterious island, jumping, running, and blasting like a one-man army in a high-tech nanosuit. Then things get even wilder when alien Ceph forces arrive. Kinda have that Cold War vibe.
	Crysis Warhead	FPS	Windows	Parallel story to the first game, seen through the eyes of Sergeant Psycho. More over-the-top action, more explosive set pieces, and the same 80s-style hero, cold war + aliens energy. A focused, adrenaline-fueled campaign.
	Escape from Colditz	Adventure, puzzle	Amiga	Four captured officers plot their escape from a high security "Nahtzee" prison. Sneak around, steal what you need, and don't let the guards catch you where you're not supposed to be. Adapted from a tabletop game based on a real story. Modern port here.
	Fursan al-Aqsa: The Knights of the Al-Aqsa Mosque	FPS	Windows Xbox 360 (unofficial)	The game is a first-person shooter set against the backdrop of the Zionist–Palestinian conflict. Its protagonist is Ahmad al-Falastini, a fictional Palestinian militant who was imprisoned by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) for five years. He embarks on a quest for revenge by joining the Fursan Al-Aqsa resistance group.
	Freedom Fighters	Third-person shooter	Windows PlayStation 2 GameCube Xbox	Cult-classic alternate history game where the Soviets invade New York City. You lead a resistance movement, recruiting fighters and taking back the city block by block. Story-driven, with some squad tactics on top of the action.
	Hidden & Dangerous	FPS	Windows PlayStation Dreamcast	Your team has been shot down in enemy territory, get out. Avoid the console ports. The "Deluxe" version includes an expansion.
	Homefront	FPS	Windows Xbox 360 PlayStation 3	Spiritual successor to Freedom Fighters. Set in a near-future where a unified Korea invades and occupies the U.S. Very story-driven, all about guerrilla resistance in occupied America. Not Soviets, but the same “Red invasion” vibe.
	Homefront: The Revolution	FPS / Open-world	Windows Xbox One PlayStation 4	A reboot with an open-world take on the occupied U.S. formula. You play as resistance fighters trying to kick out the Korean People’s Army. Mixed reviews, but keeps that alternate-history invasion feel.
	Metro 2033	FPS	Windows Xbox 360	FPS with survival horror elements. Takes place in post-apocalyptic Moskow's metro system. You fight against communists, "nahtzees" and abominations caused by radiation.
	Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis	FPS / Tactical Shooter	Windows Xbox	A realistic Cold War sim where a Soviet invasion kicks off on a fictional island. You play as NATO soldiers (infantry, tank crews, pilots) in massive, open-ended battles. Less arcade than CoD, but all about fighting the Red Army.
	Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad	Tactical FPS	Windows	Immerse yourself in the brutal Battle of Stalingrad, fighting as German or Soviet forces in a realistic WWII shooter. The multiplayer campaign pits Axis against Allies in territory control. Singleplayer mode uses bots and lacks a strong narrative, serving more as multiplayer practice. Features intense, realistic mechanics like bullet drop and minimal HUD. The "Heroes of The West" CGT mod adds gameplay from the the Allies as well.
	Sniper Elite V2	Tactical Shooter / Stealth	Windows PlayStation 3 Xbox 360 Wii U Switch	Set during the final days of World War II, you play as an American OSS sniper dropped into the ruined streets of Berlin. Your mission is to secure German V-2 rocket scientists before the advancing Red Army reaches them, blending long-range marksmanship with stealth and sabotage. Emphasizes realistic ballistics, patience, and tactical positioning rather than run-and-gun combat.
	The Great Escape	Arcade Adventure	ZX Spectrum Commodore 64 Amstrad CPC MS-DOS	You play as a POW, and you have to escape from a German prison.
	The Saboteur	Third Person/Sandbox	Windows Xbox 360 PlayStation 3	Bring the color back to Paris by killing some "nahtzees". Think Just Cause 2: WWII Style.
	Vietcong: Fist Alpha	FPS	Windows	Expansion to Vietcong, a Vietnam War shooter. Includes a brief single-player mission where you play as an NVA soldier, a rare instance of a non-American neocon/liberal interventionist perspective. The main campaign focuses on U.S./South Vietnamese forces, but this mission offers a short narrative glimpse into the Vietnamese side.
	Wolfenstein 3D	FPS	Everything!	You're an American agent trying to escape from a castle/base full of nahtzees. First person shooters go all the way back to the 70s, but Wolfenstein 3D was the one that made the genre explode in popularity. It's been widely ported, go with the PC or 3DO versions. Or even better, get Wolfram, an excellent modernized fan remake.
	Wolfenstein (2009)	FPS	Windows Xbox 360 PlayStation 3	Sequel to Return to Castle Wolfenstein, our hero B.J. steals a magic medallion from the "nahtzees". This game by Raven changed the series' formula a bit by adding special powers (especially tripping into a dark parallel dimension) and having an occupied city as a hub map. It sold poorly at the time, but now it is widely seen as an underrated hidden gem.
	Wolfenstein: The New Order	FPS	Windows Xbox 360 Xbox One PlayStation 3 PlayStation 4	After one final suicide mission by the Allies in 1946 goes horribly wrong, the Axis win World War II, alternate universe where the Axis powers beginning their path of global domination (and even beyond) instead of the Allies. We pick up from 1960, with B.J. Blazkowicz awakening from a vegetative state in a mental asylum. Lead the resistance, the Kreisau Circle, as you take on the "nahtzees" in London, Poland, hundreds of meters underwater, and even on the fuckin' Moon. Comes with a variety of satisfying weapons, nearly all of them dual-wieldable, catering to both stealthy and excessively violent playstyles.
