Censored games

Uh-oh, the fun police rolled in with their safety scissors and decided some history is just too spicy for gamers. Are you a bad enough dude to notice when the devs start airbrushing the past? Medieval Christians chanting “Deus Vult” suddenly became a “problematic meme” that almost got memory-holed. The Axis lost the war, so their flags catch the eternal banhammer. Anything that might trigger the wrong people online gets quietly revised, nerfed, or straight-up deleted. These are the games where political correctness won a round — and the devs made sure you can feel it. No sugar-coating, no excuses. Just the raw list of titles that got slammed with political agendas and straight-up censorship.
- NOTE: This page is still under construction. Add more games, even minor ones or cases where the devs showed clear intent/motivation to censor or revise (because that shit eventually poisons everything else in the game).
The List
[edit | edit source]| Cover | Title | Genre | Platforms | Description | Screenshot |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| File:Assassin's Creed Shadows PC cover.jpg | Assassin's Creed Shadows | Action-adventure, stealth | Windows, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S | Ubisoft goes all-in on historical revisionism (again). They turn a minor real-life footnote (some black guy who existed in feudal Japan) into a co-protagonist badass samurai to tick every modern diversity box. Ignores actual Japanese demographics and era realities while screaming "it's just fiction!" The agenda is louder than the katanas. | File:Assassin's Creed Shadows PC screenshot.png |
| File:Battlefield V PC cover.jpg | Battlefield V | First-person shooter | Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One | Full-throttle historical revisionism. Devs shoved women soldiers, minorities, and even prosthetic arms into 1940s WWII because "history isn't set in stone" and real accuracy was too "problematic". They openly admitted it's not a history lesson while pandering to the diversity crowd. Bonus points: in-game chat filter tried to straight-up ban "white man" (but left other races alone). | File:Battlefield V PC screenshot.png |
| File:Crusader Kings III PC cover.jpg | Crusader Kings III | Grand strategy | Windows, macOS, Linux | Heavy political correctness and historical revisionism compared to previous games in the series. Prime example: the "Deus Vult!" situation during development[1], where Paradox almost dropped the iconic Crusader battle cry because it had become a "vile meme" associated with the "wrong kind of people" online. It squeaked into the final game anyway, but the devs' original intent to memory-hole it was crystal clear. | File:Crusader Kings III PC screenshot.png |
| File:Hearts of Iron IV PC cover.jpg | Hearts of Iron IV | Grand strategy | Windows, macOS, Linux | Certain Axis aspects are censored or neutered, like the Reichskriegsflagge and full Hakenkreuzflagge (because they lost the war, obviously). At least they leave the Comintern side untouched. The loading-screen quotes cherry-picked from historical figures make the developers’ anti-Axis bias obvious. Mods are basically required if you want actual historical realism instead of the sanitized corporate version. | File:Hearts of Iron IV PC screenshot.png |
