Amico
The Amico was announced as the successor to the venerable Intellivision. It was intended to be a family-oriented system (so it would only have low-violence games) with updated versions of classics like Astrosmash, Night Stalker, Asteroids, Centipede, Tempest, Missile Command, Swords & Serpents, and Miner 2049er.
The system was supposed to come out in 2020, but after multiple delays, downsizing, tales of bad management, several failed crowdfunding campaigns, non-refunded pre-orders and limited edition collector game boxes for an unreleased console, the Amico floundered for years. In the meantime, its supposedly exclusive games were eventually released to Android and the Steam store with the tepid reception you would expect for overpriced mobile app shovelware.
In May 23, 2024, the current owners of the Atari IP purchased the Intellivision brand. As a result, with the Amico left firmly divorced from the purchase and the former Intellivision owning company now forced to rebrand as Amico Entertainment and sell it solely as "The Amico", this will likely be the final nail in its coffin.
