	Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown	Flight Combat	After a dissapointing PC debut with the since-delisted Assault Horizon spinoff, the mainline Ace Combat series finally got its real first PC release. After multiple pathetic attempts to westernize or go free-to-play, Bandai Namco finally said "fuck it" and let Project Aces make a traditional style game again. The graphics are amazing and the game plays like a dream. The story is...pretty disappointing. It tries to hit those sweet melodramatic notes from past games but kind of falls on it's face with awkward pacing and generally uninteresting characters. Overall it's maybe a slight step down from the PS2 Holy Trinity but it's still very deserving of it's name.	Steam
	Angry Video Game Nerd Adventures I & II Deluxe	Platformer	Set your TV to channel 3, grab your Zapper, and get ready to curse like a sailor! A very fun and brutally difficult indie 2D platformer that pays homage to eternal classics like Mega Man, Castlevania, and Beat 'Em & Eat 'Em. This pack is a remake of the two AVGN games on a better engine, with tweaked challenge and extra content.	Steam

	Atom RPG	RPG	A turn-based isometric post-apocalyptic RPG set in a nuked-out Soviet Russia; very heavily inspired by the first two Fallout games. 	Baba Is You	Puzzle	Brainbending puzzle game where you assign values to objects by manipulating word rules tiles in order to solve each level. There are a lot of extremely clever puzzles that make you feel like a genius whenever you solve them.	Steam
	Battle Brothers	Tactics RPG	A low-fantasy tactics RPG where you play as a mercenary band going through procedurally generated encounters. A deep customization system and rough difficulty keep things fresh.	GOG Steam

	Black Mesa	FPS	A scientific experiment goes wrong, and all of a sudden you're fighting a horde of alien invaders. An indie-but-authorized remake of Half-Life on the HL2 engine. There are two versions. The free mod is Windows-only and lacks Xen, the controversial final area of the original game. The paid release is on Windows and Linux, includes a hugely expanded and improved Xen, multiplayer, and tons of extra polish everywhere.	Steam

	Blazing Chrome	Platformer	Liberate mankind from the evil genocidal robots' rule! If you liked Contra back when it was still 2D and awesome, this game is for you.	GOG Humble Steam
	Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night	Metroidvania	Koji Igarashi's return to video games after almost a decade comes in the form of a spiritual successor to his amazing run of Castlevania games. Bloodstained is another very good one of those, but don't expect anything super new or exciting. The graphics are pretty ugly but the music is solid and the gameplay is a lot of fun. If you've played Iga's Castlevania games then you know what you're in for and if not then play at least Symphony of the Night first.	Steam
	Broforce	Platformer	Testosterone: the video game! They got all the great heroes from the manliest action movies ever, and put them together in a crazy tough 2D platformer where pretty much everything is explodable.	GOG Humble Steam
	Caladrius Blaze	Shoot'em Up	Raiden with anime girls Amazing shmup by Moss which finally got a western release. Made by Moss, so it bears a few similarities with Raiden (one of the characters can even use the toothpaste laser), but it has it's it's own unique gameplay style. Tons of characters to play, difficult but fair challenge, excellent soundtrack and art style. The girls also gets their clothes torn off when their ships explode (no joking).	GOG Steam
	Cities: Skylines	Simulation	Love Sim City? Looking for something that was not ruined by developer incompetence and publisher greed? Say no more. Sadly the sequel was a clusterfuck, avoid that.	Steam
	Control	Action/Adventure/TPS	From the folks who made the first two Max Payne games and Alan Wake 1-2. You play as a lady looking for her brother and finds herself as the new director of this X-Files style government agency tasked with overseeing and covering up supernatural occurrences. Over the course of the game you acquire cool powers and upgrades to your gun. Has some small metroidvania elements. The main appeal is the style and world design which are dripping in cool supernatural conspiracy shit.	GOG Steam
	Crimzon Clover World EXplosion	Shoot 'em Up	The definitive version of the earlier Crimzon Clover: World Ignition, with the main difference being the new Arrange mode where you have a Gradius styled Power-Up bar for upgrades, making the game significantly easier. Otherwise, all the old modes from World Ignition are here and unchanged.	Steam
	Cruelty Squad	FPS/Immersive Sim	Play a work-for-hire corporate assassin in a world that looks like if the original Quake met with the Windows 95 Maze screensaver. Complete missions to buy body augmentations like Deus Ex to make the killing easier, then harvest body parts or go fish to sell and earn money on the in-game stock market. Looks like one giant shitpost, but actually plays very well with tons of secrets to find and a lot of freedom in how to complete the missions. Prepare to have more questions than answers once you reach the true ending.	Steam

	Cuphead	Run 'n Gun	Boss Rush: The Game! Cuphead and Mugman lost a bet with The Devil, now they must search and fight all of his debtors or else they'll lose their souls! A stylish and balls hard run and gun styled after the classic cartoons from the 30's.	GOG Humble Steam
	Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc	Adventure	A murder-mystery which is like a mix of Ace Attorney and Saw, though played for black comedy. An evil teddy bear trapped students inside their school, and the only way for them to escape is to kill each other and escape conviction.	Steam
	Darius Burst: Chronicle Saviours	Shoot'em Up	The ultimate Darius package, for Darius and Shmup fans alike! It has two modes of play, AC Mode and CS Mode. AC mode is a direct port of the Arcade game Darius Burst: Another Chronicle EX, massive resolution and all, while the CS mode is where the bulk of the game is. You pick from missions on a map, which consists of playing through a sequence of stages, which when beaten unlock more missions, branching into various directions. There are 9 different ships to choose, including ships based on the previous games of the series. Absolutely obligatory if you like the genre and own an ultrawide monitor.	Steam
	Dark Souls - Remastered	Action RPG	Spiritual successor to Demon Souls. It improves over every aspect of its predecessor, being at least twice as big and featuring a fully streamlined world, scarcer resources (no more carrying 99 of each grass). The tendency system gave way to a new faction system, with each of the 9 covenants having it's own mission and thus expanding a lot the way the multiplayer system works. A world of both frustrating and rewarding challenges awaits as you fight your way through tons of incredibly atmospheric dungeons. And you will die in every one of them, multiple times. And you will like it. A lot.	Steam
	Dark Souls III	Action RPG	The final game in the series, this time with Miyazaki back at the helm. Expect a faster pace this time around, as the team was still fresh off of Bloodborne. This one is generally considered better than Dark Souls II, but not quite as good as Dark Souls 1 nor Demon's Souls. Ashes of Ariandel is a 3 hour piece of shit with little content and two bosses, but The Ringed City makes up for it and effectively ends the entire series.	Steam
	Dead Cells	Action / Platformer Rogue-Lite	Fantastic 2D rogue-lite with a Metroidvania feel. You play as a lump of reanimating cells occupying a corpse trying to end the cycle of death plaguing the world. Hundreds of possible builds with weapons, powerups, and abilities that can be unlocked for future runs. Tough but fair combat that can be made harder with various challenges you can find around the levels that grant more loot. Has a lot of worthwhile DLC, including a Castlevania tie-in.	GOG Steam
	Dead Rising	Action Adventure / Horror	You have 72 hours to rescue survivors and uncover the truth about the zombie outbreak in this small Colorado town. Explore an entire shopping mall full of the undead. Anything you can pick up can be used to murder the 1000s of zombies on screen at any given time. Has a lot of awesome boss fights against psychos who lost their minds during the outbreak. Note: avoid the 2024 remaster, it's censored and lost some visual effects.	Steam
	Devil May Cry HD Collection	Action	Two of the greatest action games of all time as well as one of the worst, upscaled in HD. Devil May Cry and Dante's Awakening are masterpieces that shouldn't be missed. Skip DMC2. The PC version allows for mods, so if you want stance switching in DMC3 and don't want to play the Switch version this is your other option.	Steam
	Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition	Action	The 4th game in the series stars the rookie Nero. His gameplay is fun despite having a limited moveset compared to Dante. About the halfway mark of the game, the story switches over to Dante and his expanded repertoire of moves. The game was ported to PS4 and PC with this special edition that includes the ability to play the campaign as either Lady and Trish or the entire shebang as just Vergil. There are also additional cutscenes to flesh out the story in the original Nero/Dante campaign. These improvements still keep it as one of the weaker entries in the series, but a worthwhile one nonetheless.	Steam
	Devil May Cry 5	Action	Like many Japanese AAA game companies in the previous generation, Capcom's attempts to westernize their IPs ended up as a horrible embarrassing failure. Fortunately they learned their lesson and as a result we have the first mainline DMC game in 11 years. You play as either Dante, Nero, or a new guy named V who summons the bosses from DMC1 to fight on his behalf. V's levels are cool but only really hold up on a first playthrough. Dante and Nero really shine with each of them building off their previous incarnations in DMC4. The game delivers on the cuh-ray-zee and then some which is all it needed to do after the crummy reboot. The PC version offers the usual Vergil playable campaign and Bloody Palace mode as a separate purchase.	Steam
	Disco Elysium	Adventure RPG	"What kind of cop are you?" An incredible isometric adventure game about a drunkard cop who wakes up in a small town where they were supposed to be investigating a murder but had instead been going on a booze bender. You're so far gone that you can't remember your name, or even what you look like. The RPG character building is unlike anything else, where you spec into certain personality traits, which manifest themselves as internal dialogs based on how you build out your character. The writing explores a wide range of topics ranging from personal identity to various political theories and surrealist existentialism. All of this is encompassed by a gorgeous hand-painted art style and an excellent soundtrack by the English band Sea Power.	GOG Steam
	Divinity: Original Sin II	RPG	One of the better computer RPGs from the 2010s. Turn-based combat with a player-created party in a lovingly-realized Western fantasy world, with plenty of player agency and alternate paths. Fully playable in co-op. Great story, and a fantastic introduction to the genre.	GOG Steam
	Doom	Rip & Tear Simulator	After being in development hell for over 8 years, it's a miracle this game actually turned out anything more than half-decent, let alone be the gaming masterpiece it actually is. Doom 2016 is a glorious return to form for the seminal FPS series, with fast paced movement, sprawling non-linear levels, the ability to hold every gun at all times, swarms of demons that actually pose a threat, weapon mods that provide alt fire, and an awesome new metal soundtrack (the lead instrument for the theme song is a goddamned chainsaw). Basically, this is the game that Doom 3 should have been. Don't buy this for multiplayer though, as nobody cares about it and is DOA.	Steam
	Doom Eternal	Rip & Tear Simulator	The follow-up to the 2016 Doom ups the speed and difficulty of its predecessor and places a greater emphasis on juggling between your various weapons due to the limited max ammunition you start the game with. Other than that, it's a pretty standard sequel that delivers more of the same. The multiplayer of the last game has been replaced with a new 2 vs 1 Battlemode where one Slayer faces off again two demons working together, but it sound more fun than it is and in practice feels like a total mess. Much like the last game, buy this for the single player.	Steam
	Downwell	2D Shooter / Platformer	A neat game where you fall down randomly generated vertical levels with guns attached to your boots with the end goal of making it through while racking up combo points. Really challenging to do well but really satisfying when you do.	Steam
	Dragon Ball FighterZ	Fighting	A super fast-paced fighter (think Marvel vs Capcom) with Dragon Ball Z/Super characters, excellent even if you're not a fan of Dragon Ball. Takes some pages from Guilty Gear Xrd, using the same 3D-styled graphics made to look like 2D sprites. Story mode is what you'd expect from fighting games these days but the character interactions are surely entertaining.	Steam
	Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age Definitive Edition	JRPG	The "enhanced" version of DQ11. Considered among the best Dragon Quest games and among the best JRPGs of this generation. The gameplay is classic DQ. You control a party of effervescent characters roaming the world and fighting traditional turn based battles against various Akira Toriyama designed monsters. Really this is the closest you're getting to an old-school JRPG experience in a new game. Fortunately it's a pretty dang good one. One thing to note is that this release of the game caused some controversy because Square decided to port the Switch version of the Definitive Edition to PC, resulting in more content but worse visuals, and delisted the original release of DQ11 on Steam. So if the new content does not appeal to you, it might be worth it to track down the original PC release.	Steam
	Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen	Action RPG	Underrated Capcom action-RPG. Medieval fantasy in an open-world setting. This game's story, variety, presentation, and world size are all somewhat underwhelming, but it shines in the combat, which is thrillingly fast and fun, kind of like a medieval Devil May Cry with elements of Dark Souls and Shadow of the Colossus. There are several classes to try and they're all fun to play, including the spellcasting ones. No multi-player, sadly, but you can trade your A.I. companions with others online for fun and profit. 	Evoland II: A Slight Case of Space-Time Continuum Disorder	Action-RPG	An epic nostalgia trip through the various eras of gaming in a awesome action-RPG full of unique bosses, missions and mini-games which play in different genres (fighting, shmup, strategy, puzzle and even rhythm). The first game is fine, but very short.	GOG Steam
	Final Fantasy IV: The After Years	RPG	A fully 3D remake of the WiiWare game. Any tale you unlock after the prologue can be played in any order, similar to Live-A-Live. The Chrono Trigger-esque Band system is slightly altered from the original FF4TAY. Playing FF4 before this is recommended, but not mandatory. However, there is a FF4PC save bonus, in the form of Tails (hint hint) There are no classic FF bosses in this version (replaced by recolored FF4 bosses with new skillsets), no multiplayer like WiiWare, and no challenge dungeons. That said, the challenge dungeon equipment can be bought in the final chapter. If you prefer the extra content, stick with the PSP/WW version.	Steam
	Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age	JRPG	PC port of FFXII International Edition, which features various gameplay changes and improvements to the original game, and was (despite its title) never released outside of Japan. FFXII is a more "Westernized" take on the JRPG series, with a real-time party combat system, a beautifully-realized, free-roaming world, and tons of optional content.	Steam
	Final Fantasy Type-0 HD	Action-RPG	Imagine Crisis Core but better, with 14 different playable characters, playable summons, a world map, chocobo breeding and a fantastic story. The gameplay is difficult and will kill you if you get careless, but is fun and faster than Crisis Core because less "slot machine" bullshit. Much, MUCH, bloodier, gorier and violent than the previous Final Fantasy games. Has updated graphics compared to the PSP version, as well as the option to change the voices to English (very shitty dub) or Japanese, no multiplayer (as if anyone cared about it), an exclusive alternate ending, and an updated soundtrack. The translation is somewhat spotty, so the PSP version may actually be a better pick.	Steam
	Fire Pro Wrestling World	Wrestling Sim	The first real Fire Pro game in over a decade. It returns to it's roots with 2D sprites at an isometric angle and the wrestling is reminiscent of the classic games. What puts this game over the top is not only the massive customization options but the ability to share any custom wrestlers, referees, and rings/arenas using Steam Workshop. The game also has licensed New Japan Pro Wrestling content including an odd adventure game style story mode. Some of the features require an internet connection which is a bummer but even just the core package alone is worth it.	Steam
	Football Manager (series)	Sports/Simulation	Do you suffer from severe autism? Then this game is for you! Create your own manager and manage football clubs from all around the world. It's a good game with very deep and complex gameplay, but it's the best football simulator. It also has a big community of modders; just don't expect good graphics!
	Forsaken Remastered	3D shooter	In a distant future, you're a scavenger trying to make a living in the lifeless ruins of planet earth. A nice 6DoF shooter, like Descent with 90s 'tude and more arcadey gameplay. The remaster has (slightly) improved visuals, and adds the extra content from the N64 version. Suggested mods: upscaled textures and smaller crosshair.	GOG Humble Steam
	Furi	Action / Twin stick Shooter	Fast-paced stylish action game where you fight duel after duel against some amazing bosses(designed by Takashi Okazaki of Afro Samurai fame). The gameplay kicks your ass and the presentation is top notch.	GOG Steam
	Ghost Blade HD	Shmup	A cool manic shooter, originally released on the Dreamcast, with some solid indie pedigree: the producer and the programmer of Pier Solar, plus the designer and the composer of Last Hope. Their main inspiration is distinctly - or even shamelessly - Cave's DonPachi series. Gorgeous highly detailed backgrounds and nice electronic soundtrack. Very enjoyable, but perhaps a bit on the short and easy side.	Steam
	Ghostrunner	FPS/ slasher/ parkour	After the cataclysm, what little remains of mankind lives in a gigantic tower, but one of its creators finds she'd rather be a brutal dictator. You are the city's last guardian cyborg, and your sword is its last hope. Super stylish, crazy difficult first person hack and slash, and I mean holy shit difficult. Do some wall-running over bottomless chasms while multiple thugs shoot at you, and a single shot is always fatal.	GOG Humble Steam
	Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator	Fighting	Hands down one of the best-looking fighting games ever, a rocking soundtrack, and the same sweet GGX gameplay as ever. Revelator expands on the roster from Sign, and improves the netcode.	Steam
	Hades	Action Roguelike	Escape the ancient Greek Underworld as the son of Hades, Zagreus, in order to reach the surface and find your birth mother in an dungeon-crawling roguelike that's almost like if The Binding of Isaac was reimagined as an isometric hack-and-slash game. Receive buffs and boons from the Olympian Gods as they help you to escape, but die and you'll start all the way back at the House of Hades and your dick of a father who's trying to stop you. Expect to die a lot. Made by the same people responsible for Bastion and Transistor so you know it's a quality experience.	Steam
	HITMAN: World of Assassination	Stealth / Puzzle	After getting dragged through the mud like every other Eidos ip in the early 2010s, Hitman made its triumphant return in 2016 with an amazing stealth/puzzle/action mix on par with Blood Money. This World of Assassination package combines all the levels from Hitman 1-3, as well as the main story and bonus campaigns plus all the bonus missions and modes. Each level allows for a million ways to kill all your targets and there are various challenges you can do to unlock even more tools to carry over to different levels as well. The one major downside is an always-online requirement for unlocking content and leveling your character. The game contains 21 levels and dozens of hours of replayability for most of them. It is a monster of a game and a masterpiece.	Steam
	Hollow Knight	Metroidvania	Critically-acclaimed indie Metroidvania that combines platforming and non-linear exploration with RPG-style progression and a Dark Souls-esque penchant for environmental storytelling. Optional content gets very challenging. One of the best entries in its genre.	GOG Steam
	Horizon Chase Turbo	Racing	A super colorful nostalgia trip for those who love early 90s console racers, especially SNES classic Top Gear.	Humble Steam
	Hyper Light Drifter	Action RPG	2D top down action game that is kind of an amalgamation of Zelda and Souls. You use your magic sword to kill monsters and gain new weapons and abilities in order to advance. Gorgeous art and music.	GOG Steam
	Iconoclasts	Platformer/Metroidvania	Made by Konjak, the guy behind the Noitu Love games. While inspired by Metroid, the game plays more like a Monster World title, with more focus on the action and light puzzle elements, as well as the story. Absolutely beautiful pixel art and solid gameplay, Konjak definitely knows what he's doing.	GOG Steam
	Inside	Puzzle-Platformer	From the same developers of Limbo, it looks and plays much like it's predecessor but adds a few new tricks like mind-controlling people on the background to move objects and such.	GOG Steam
	Ion Fury	FPS	Be a bomb squad cop babe, fight a robotic cult led by a mad scientist. Retro-shootan running on the same engine (albeit updated) as 90s classics Duke Nukem 3D, Shadow Warrior, and Blood. Also famous for triggering the RetardEra snowflakes, which is always a good thing.	GOG Steam
	Just Shapes & Beats	Rhythm	Fast paced rhythm game with bullet hell elements. Simple art style that they do a lot with and a really cool soundtrack that keeps you in the zone. Has co-op too so you and all your friends can confuse each other as to who is who. Still a lot of fun with friends.	Steam
	Kaze and the Wild Masks	Platformer	When a curse befalls her homeland, bunny adventurer Kaze will wear magical masks to fight evil. Gorgeous and extremely fun 2D platformer, its gameplay is heavily inspired by the Donkey Kong Country series.	Steam
	Kingdom Come: Deliverance	RPG	Hardcore action-rpg with an emphasis on realism. The game takes place in medieval times in the developer's Czech homeland. You play as Henry, a young apprentice caught up in an ongoing conflict that thrusts him away from a life as a lowly commoner and into a skilled fighter. There are various skills you can focus on to grow your character, including learning how to read, ride horses, fight with weapons, and repair weapons and armor (of which there are a whopping sixteen different clothing and armor slots to equip). Your character must eat and sleep and maintain their gear. Food will spoil and armor and weapons will degrade if not addressed. The combat relies on realistic physics, and you need to make sure you have the right weapon for any encounter, not everything can be resolved with a sword. The story contains branching quests based on decisions made by the player. It was buggy at launch but now is in a pretty good state, and the DLC is worth getting as well.	GOG Steam
	Lethal League Blaze	2D Sports Fighting	High-speed 2D fighter where players are trying to deflect a ball at one another in order to strike and eliminate them with it. Extremely stylish tone with a killer soundtrack. Can be played with up to four people.	Steam
	Lumines Remastered	Puzzle	The PSP classic is back. It looks great and the amazing soundtrack still holds up. It's a tile-matching block dropper like Tetris except blocks are cleared to the beat of the music.	Steam
	Mega Man 11	Platformer	Mega Man returns after a long hiatus on his first 2.5D adventure! Introduces the Double Gear system, which allows to temporarily power up Mega Man's attacks or to slow down time, with the entire game designed after these new abilities, with the tried and true challenging but fair difficulty of the series. 	Metal Wolf Chaos XD	TPS	Remaster of the 2004 hidden gen by From Software (Japan-only and Xbox-only back then). The vice-president has launched a coup, so the president must ride a mecha to crush the traitors and restore America's freedom! Beautifully patriotic and over the top action. Also on PS4/XBone. 	Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain	Tactical Espionage Action	Kojima's last Metal Gear Solid game. You step into the boots of Venom Snake, a commander awakened from a coma to seek revenge in a sprawling 1980s Afghanistan and Africa. This is a stealth-action sandbox defined by unparalleled freedom; nearly every problem has multiple solutions, from calling in airstrikes to using your inflatable decoy or extracting enemies with a fulton balloon. You'll build and manage Mother Base, recruit soldiers, and develop new gear. Expect a deeply melancholic, almost lonely atmosphere, where the story is delivered via sparse audio tapes and the gameplay itself generates emergent moments. Be aware that while the moment-to-moment action is peerless, the narrative is famously incomplete, yet the core loop of planning an infiltration and improvising when it goes wrong remains unmatched. Visually has aged well. Completing Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes and transferring your save unlocks several permanent rewards in The Phantom Pain. 60 FPS cap can be removed by using MGSVFix or editing the "TPP_GRAPHICS_CONFIG" file and modifying the line to "framerate_control" : "Variable", saving and setting the file to read-only. Excellently translates the 2D touchscreen-based gameplay to a 3D face and shoulder button based system which allows to lots of party customization and experimentation with the different attack types and elements tied to fashionable buttons from the various clothing brands around Shibuya. The story takes place a few years after the events of the original game and The Final Remix expansion released later. You once again play as trendy japanese teenagers dragged against their will into a game of survival in order to save the city from destruction. 	Octopath Traveler	JRPG	A solid old school JRPG with beautiful graphics and music. With eight individual plot lines and a multitude of side quests, there is a lot of content to devour. Possibly due to it originally being a Switch exclusive, the story seems designed from a "pick up and play" standpoint, for better or for worse. The plot lines can be too disjointed for their own good, but they are generally enjoyable individually with all of them being significantly different from each other. The method for solving a main story quest can get formulaic, unfortunately, though at least the side quests tend to be more creative in how they can be resolved. The battle system is pretty good, which is vital since you'll be spending a good time grinding to the recommended levels. While a bit hard at the beginning, it's pretty easy once you get a knack of the job system and the myriad of ways to abuse it, at least until the true final boss is found.	Steam

	Ōkami HD	Action-RPG	A curse haunts the land, and it's up to Amaterasu, the sun goddess reincarnated as a white wolf, to fight the demons behind it! Okami is pretty much Zelda in a fantasy medieval Japan setting; pretty much all characters and events are references to Shinto mythology, and even the graphics style is based on traditional sumi-e painting. It's easy to see why it is always mentioned when people discuss "are games art". Note: due to licensing issues, the beautiful ending song was replaced in the Western release. 	Onimusha: Warlords	Action-Adventure	Port of the PS2 game. Boasts similar gameplay to the earlier entries in the Resident Evil series, with fixed camera angles, tank controls and tight resource rationing, but takes place in a fantasy feudal Japan and focuses on melee combat with various magical weapons. Though not particularly flashy, the game builds tension nicely and presents a beautiful setting, along with some awesomely grotesque monsters.	Steam

	Panzer Dragoon Remake	Rail shooter	In a fantasy world fallen to ruins, you ride a dragon to prevent the Empire from awakening a monster from the Ancient era. Remake of the Sega Saturn classic with a ton of improvements. Delightful if you like arcade style games, just be warned that it's very short. 	Pathfinder: Kingmaker	RPG	Massive RPG based on the Pathfinder tabletop game. That system's character creator has been faithfully translated, offering an insane level of build variety for you and your party. Like the first Baldur's Gate, the game is a more grounded adventure featuring isometric real-time-with-pause combat. There is also a kingdom manager where you build, upgrade, and maintain towns. Features a reactive campaign where your choices influence the overall plot, partially crafted by the great Chris Avellone.	GOG Steam
	Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous	RPG	An ambitious indirect sequel to Kingmaker. This game features a wider variety of character classes and builds, including a mythical path system that grants your character great powers with heavy story implications as the game progresses. Wrath also replaces the kingdom manager with a Heroes of Might and Magic III-inspired war manager. Like its predecessor, it is a stunningly large game, to the point of being a bit overlong, but a welcome RPG to fans of the genre.	GOG Steam

While it doesn't quite have the same levels of melodrama as a typical Ace Combat plotline, it does have the high-octane plane action and gorgeous visuals one expects from the original series. 	Rabi-Ribi	Metroidvania/Bullet Hell/LSD/Bunnies	A game with bunnies! A super-kawaii metroidvania where the girls want to cuddle bunnies very hard. You play a bunnygirl and her pixie partner and have a huge world to explore, with tons of secrets to uncover which unlock new abilities. Also bunnies! 	Rain World	Survival Platformer	Brutally difficult platformer where you play as a slugcat, a small rodent trying to survive in a harsh ecosystem where they must scavenge for food while avoiding larger predators trying to kill them and try and get back to shelter safely before getting washed away by the rain that floods the map after a certain amount of time. Beautifully animated game with a gorgeous pixel art post-apocalyptic aesthetic.	GOG Steam
	Rez Infinite	Rail shooter / rhythm	Eden, the world's most advanced artificial intelligence, is about to crash under the weight of too much knowledge. You are a computer virus whose task is to fight past her defenses to force a reboot. Remake of the Dreamcast cult classic, with improved graphics, an extra area, and support for VR devices. It's absolutely gorgeous and trippy: everything is timed to the music, and your actions become notes and beats, creating a synaesthetic spectacle.	Steam
	River City Ransom Underground	Beat 'em Up	A new sequel to the Kunio-Kun series, this one is actually a direct follow-up to the NES title. In this one you can choose between various characters and must explore the streets of River City while beating up the street gangs and upgrading your arsenal of moves.
	Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice	Action	An instant classic action game from the creators of Dark Souls and Bloodborne. You play as a shinobi in feudal Japan who needs to rescue his young master from a clan who has kidnapped him in order to steal his blood. Unlike the Souls games there is very little customization and really only a handful of "correct" approaches to any combat encounter but in turn those encounters are super fine tuned. Combat is purely timing based, where the best way to kill an enemy isn't to whittle down their health bar but to tire them out by deflecting all their blows and forcing them to deflect yours until they are vulnerable enough to be stabbed in the face. Also no multiplayer, so you can't summon anyone to beat the bosses for you but you can't get invaded either. Somewhat divisive for people who liked the Souls series for it's customization or PVP or depressing world but it still has the super polished gameplay and tough but fair challenge of their other games. 	Shadow Warrior 2	FPS	Five years after Enra's death, the human world is corrupted and demons now live openly among us. Lo Wang is hired to rescue a mafia boss' kidnapped daughter, but Zilla does some crazy science on her and shit gets kind of complicated. SW2 keeps the gory dark humor and fast gun+sword action of the first game, but the linear levels are dropped for open multi-layered stages, a more acrobatic moveset, RPG-lite elements, and co-op. This allows for a lot of freedom while slicing and dicing bad guys, although it can make the game feel a bit unfocused.	GOG Humble Steam
	Shadowrun: Hong Kong	Tactical RPG	The final game in Harebrained Schemes' Shadowrun trilogy. Takes place in a cyberpunk version of the titular city. You are quickly thrust into the world of shadows as you must do whatever is necessary to clear your name and save your adoptive father. Lauded for its atmosphere and characters, the game also had some improvements to its combat, as well as a divisive new hacking system. Overall it is generally considered a slight step down from Dragonfall but a fine RPG in its own right.	GOG Steam
	Shantae and the Pirate's Curse	Platformer	The best game on the series so far, and basically what Risky's Revenge should have been. Shantae has lost her powers and now must ally herself with her rival Risky Boobs Boots to save her town and recover her powers.	GOG Steam
	Shantae: Half-Genie Hero	Platformer	Crowdfunded sequel to Pirate's Curse, with a new art direction and gorgeous full HD graphics. Shantae now has tons of new transformations, which leads to quite a bit of backtracking and the story is a bit disjointed compared to previous titles, but it still keeps the with the excellent action of the series. 	Shenmue I & II	Adventure	Japan, 1986: be a young jujitsu fighter, investigate your dad's murder. Originally on the Dreamcast, Shenmue is a somewhat slow-paced but amazingly detailed adventure with a combat system that's straight outta Virtua Fighter! 	Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster	JRPG	An HD port of the PS2 classic. You control the Demi Fiend, a schoolboy turned into a demon whose actions will determine the shape of the world to come (our world has already ended). You can align yourself with one of several ideologies, which will affect the game's progression and ending. Recruit, fuse and use demons in battle; the Press Turn system heavily emphasizes exploiting the enemy's weaknesses to succeed. A very tough, intelligent and rewarding game. There is additional paid DLC to bring back "Dante from the Devil May Cry series", who was included for free in the original North American release. It is highly recommended that you get him though. The remaster also added an easier difficulty and voice acting, as well as redoing some of the visuals, for better or worse. Regardless it is one of the best JRPGs of all time.	Humble Steam
	Sine Mora EX	Shoot'em Up	A unique shmup with a dark atmosphere whose gameplay revolves around slowing time to make it through stages. Instead of lives, you have a timer which slowly counts down and getting hit depletes even more time, so skillful use of the time slow is essential. 	Skylar & Plux: Adventure on Clover Island	3D Platformer	An indie 3D platformer developed by four sweedish bois. It takes a lot of inspiration from games like Jak & Daxter and Ratchet & Clank. A great entry in this colect-a-thon genre, even though it's really short and could be polished a little more. Easy to get to 100% on Steam Achievements.
	Sonic Mania	Platformer	To put it simply, this is the Sonic game everyone have been waiting for almost 20 years! It features a mix of classic levels redesigned with new bells and whistles as well as completely new levels. Now with Mighty and Ray from that isometric Sonic Arcade game on their own special mode. Make friends with your fellow neighbors. Try to marry some of them. Spend all your energy harvesting wheat and fall asleep on the ground at 2 PM. Nobody said farming would be easy, right? For those truly hardcore Harvest Moon players who are still in doubt, let it be known that Yasuhiro Wada, the creator himself, personally gave Stardew Valley his blessing and even said it went the direction Harvest Moon should've gone. 	Tekken 7	Fighting	You probably know what this is by now. One of the best 3D fighter franchises on the market, and finally on the PC. 	The Age of Decadence	RPG	An ambitious hardcore RPG made by a small team that was dissatisfied with other RPGs being released at the time. You choose your origins and the game requires you specialize your character towards one of the handfuls of playstyles available in order to complete it. You'll likely either be forced to talk, sneak, or fight your way out of situations, with almost every choice leading to different paths the plot can take. 	The Messenger	Platformer	A ninja village is attacked by demons, and the fate of the world lies upon you being able to deliver a message. 	The Mummy Demastered	Metroidvania	Great metroidvania by WayForward, loosely based on that awful Tom Cruise movie. You play as a generic spec-ops soldier, and when you die your corpse becomes a zombie so when you load the game you're playing as another soldier who then must kill the now zombified soldier to retrieve all the gear you collected. 	The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt	Open World Action RPG	You are Geralt of Rivia, a witcher - that is, a monster hunter and mercenary. Travel around the world, helping or hindering others, while fighting the mysterious army known only as "Wild Hunt". While combat may vary in enjoyability from person to person, the real hook is the story: you have 50 hours worth of gameplay, and that's from the side missions alone. The earth's surface is no longer habitable so everyone lives in underground metro stations with rival factions warring over scarce resources. 	VA-11 HALL-A: Cyberpunk Bartender Action	Visual Novel/Simulation	Sort of a mix between visual novel with bartending sim with visuals inspired by PC-98 games, you serve drinks while listening to the clients stories, all while taking care of your own life. The history actually changes depending on whether you serve clients well or mess up, as they may grow attached to you and reveal more about the world.	GOG Steam
	Vanquish	TPS	A fast-paced, arcade-esque shooter by Shinji Mikami and developed by Platinum Games. A cheesy America vs. Russia story serves as the backdrop for this fun, visually stylish game that penalizes you for taking cover too often and is all about racking up points. Its power-sliding mechanic is already being copied by every important upcoming shooter. Its greatest shortcoming is probably its cumbersome ammo aquisition system, but it's still a total blast. 	Yakuza 0	Action-Adventure	Set in money crazed 1980's Japan, Yakuza 0 serves as a more in depth origin story than what we were given in early titles in the series. Saga protagonist Kazuma Kiryu doesn't even have his back tattoo finished in this title. With two interesting playable characters who battle with three fighting styles each, this is probably the best combat found in the franchise. Along with more substories, more, crazier mini-games, and incredible visuals, this might be the overall best Yakuza game, period. This game was delisted off Steam in favor of the "Director's Cut", so if you don't want to spend $50+ for a game that was easily purchasable for $5 on a good day, you can get it on GOG as that is the only store that carries the original game (and you can still get it at a cheaper price compared to Director's Cut!) 	Ys SEVEN	Action-RPG	In Ys Seven you always travel in a party of three and can switch characters on the fly. Each character has either a slash, pierce, or smash attack type, each type being effective against certain types of enemies. The game is surprisingly damn long and features an excellent soundtrack. This PC port features HD graphics and a revised localization compared to the original PSP version.	GOG Steam
